to Georgia again for 6m. The first location in LN12 was 1600m high on a
side peak of a mountain. Using 100W and 6 element quad about 200 QSOs
have been completed during the CQWWVHF contest. However, rain was coming
which meant loosing power, as the solar cells could not provide enough
power and the larger 80kg battery could not be moved up the 2km path /
250m vertical difference from the car. The other location close to
Batumi (LN01) was 300m above the sea level and could be reached by our
Landcruiser on most days. Here we setup a 7 element rope yagi and the 6
element quad. Rain and wind was a constant problem to the point that
two tents where lost and the car could not reach the location anymore.
Overall David completed 630 QSOs, conditions have been rather weak most
of the week, i.e., nearly all QSOs have been in CW, many at S1-S5
levels. In total about 174 grid squares in 40 DXCC entities where
reached. Highlights have been EA8, about 4500km and the first ever 6m
contact between 4L and the USA to NN4X over 10300km.
Plans for next year exist, hope for 7X6M
